Find Pima Court Docket Records

Start with the court named on your citation. The Pima court docket for town police tickets runs through the shared municipal court, while charges filed above the town level go to Graham County courts. So the agency that wrote the ticket, and the court printed on the notice, tell you which clerk to call. A statewide case lookup can speed things up. Still, some local ordinance charges never show up there, so the clerk remains the surest source for a current hearing date or a Pima court record that is not posted online.

Pima Court Docket Follows the Badge

Where the stop happened does not pick your court. The issuing badge does. A Pima Police ticket normally opens in the Pima division of GVC. A citation from a Graham County deputy, a DPS trooper, or another state officer goes instead to the consolidated Graham County Justice Court. That split holds true even when the incident occurred in or near Pima, so the agency on the ticket matters more than the address of the stop.

The Pima Municipal Court

Pima's municipal cases belong to Gila Valley Consolidated Municipal Court. GVC handles police matters for Pima, Safford, and Thatcher from one location in Safford. Its docket covers Pima police traffic citations, municipal-code misdemeanors, and other cases within municipal authority. Judge Merri Aden is currently listed. The counter is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with phones answered from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Fridays are closed. The official Town of Pima website gives the local government background for the town itself.

The town site identifies Pima as the jurisdiction, but the municipal court record itself sits with the consolidated GVC clerk in Safford.

Pima Population Counts Are Not Dockets

Population figures and court filings answer different questions. A newer estimate of Pima's residents says nothing about open Pima court cases, the size of a coming calendar, or how fast municipal filings move. It also cannot project today's docket from the town's historic FY2021 court data. For those answers, rely on GVC records and confirmation from the clerk. The Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program shows how current Pima place estimates are built.

That program offers demographic context only. Keep it apart from filing totals and live case status.

Pima Court Docket in FY2021

Historic filing data gives a sense of scale, not current volume. Pima recorded 211 municipal filings in FY2021. The published mix broke down as 88 noncriminal civil-traffic matters, 60 other misdemeanors, 26 DUI matters, 19 other criminal-traffic matters, 11 criminal failures to appear, four injunctions, one protection order, one serious criminal-traffic matter, and one non-parking matter. Treat these as old annual counts. They are not a live Pima docket total.

Pima Court Dates and Settings

Your Pima citation is the first place to find an appearance date. Check the date and time near the bottom, then confirm with GVC. Arizona Public Access updates weekly, each Friday with information through Wednesday. A recent reset can lag behind. A continuance does not scrub the old setting from the Pima history either. The newest court notice or order controls.

DateThe date on the newest citation, notice, order, or confirmed clerk entry.
TimeThe time assigned for the Pima appearance or trial status.
CourtGVC for a Pima Police case; Justice Court for the appropriate county or state citation.
JudgeThe judicial officer assigned to the event; GVC currently lists Judge Merri Aden.
Setting TypeInitial appearance, pretrial, non-jury trial, jury trial, or another event stated by the court.

Ask whether the Pima appearance is in person and whether you need an interpreter or disability accommodation. GVC wants interpreter requests at least three days before the hearing.

Old Pima Court Details Can Misroute

Old Pima Justice Precinct addresses still appear in some county material. Do not let them override current court information. A Pima Police matter now runs through the Pima division of GVC. It lands at the Safford counter. A sheriff or DPS case goes to the consolidated Graham County Justice Court. That court sits at 800 W. Main Street in Safford. A quick call to the court on your citation can spare you a trip. You avoid an obsolete office.

Current route: Pima Police citation, call GVC at 928-432-4090. Sheriff or DPS citation, call Graham County Justice Court at 928-428-1210.

The Arizona Courts Locator is another official way to verify the current Pima court identity and address. Go by the name on the latest notice, not an old precinct label.

Pima Traffic Tickets

A Pima traffic ticket can carry three different labels. You might see a notice number, a court case number, or a citation number. Arizona Courts Online shows a notice-number format built from three boxes. A citation number runs up to 21 characters. Once you match the right case, those identifiers let you pay. Paying is not a docket search, though. Before sending money, call GVC. Ask whether the Pima violation can be resolved without an appearance and whether the posted amount still stands.

The Pima court lets you pay or contest under its own instructions. The GVC packet asks that a mailed responsible plea with payment, or a hearing request with a citation copy and the required details, reach the court at least five working days before the Pima court date. Its published fine schedule is dated, so confirm current amounts. For the county-wide picture of Pima citation access, payment, and a court file, see Graham County traffic court records.

GVC accepts cash at the counter, money orders, cashier's checks, and debit or credit cards. Personal checks are out. Online payment channels add vendor fees. Defensive driving is its own eligibility decision, not a payment button. An eligible course must be completed at least seven days before court. Ask GVC first, because asking for a hearing can affect the defensive-driving route.

Pima Court Docket After Mailing

A mailed hearing request takes time to arrive. GVC's packet says to send it at least five working days before the Pima date, with the requested details and a copy of the citation. Keep what you sent and proof of mailing. Mailing it does not mean the Pima court changed the setting.

If no trial date arrives within ten days of mailing, call GVC at 928-432-4090. Ask the clerk to confirm receipt, the Pima originating division, and the next event. People with lawyers should ask counsel about trial status. A self-represented person must keep address and phone details current, so a mailed notice does not go to an old address.

Where Pima Cases End Up

Pima's municipal court authority only reaches so far. A Pima Police traffic or ordinance matter starts with GVC and usually stays there. County or state officer misdemeanors and traffic cases go to Graham County Justice Court. A felony can open in Justice Court with an initial appearance and preliminary hearing, then move to the Superior Court of Arizona in Graham County if prosecution goes forward. Civil claims land in whichever court holds jurisdiction over that type and amount.

Docket flow: Pima Municipal Court › Graham County Courts › Superior Court of Arizona in Graham County

That flow does not mean every Pima matter passes through all three levels. It maps the route from town jurisdiction to county trial courts when the case type or an appeal demands it. The Graham County court docket lays out the county-level search sequence.

Pima Court Docket Appeal Route

An appeal from a Pima division municipal judgment goes to Graham County Superior Court. The appellate record is not a new Pima Police citation search. It is a court review with its own filings, deadlines, and Superior Court history. For a civil traffic final judgment, a Notice of Appeal generally must be filed within 14 calendar days. Confirm the exact deadline and filing route with the court. Missing it can cost you the review.

Start with GVC for the municipal case and ask how to get the record. Then turn to the Graham County Clerk of the Superior Court for the appeal file. This is one of the few spots where one Pima dispute creates entries at two levels. Match the lower-court number, appellate case number, party roles, and filing dates. Two results that look alike may not be duplicates.

Public Access to Pima Court Records

Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123 governs access to Pima judicial records. It covers confidential categories and limits on what displays remotely. The Arizona Code of Judicial Administration §1-604 adds that narrower remote access does not bar inspection of a nonsealed, nonconfidential Pima record at the court facility itself. A.R.S. §39-121.01 handles public-record preservation, lawful inspection, copies, mailing, fees, and prompt responses.

Key rules:

Arizona Supreme Court Rule 123 governs public access and confidential judicial records.

A.R.S. §39-121.01 addresses inspection and copies of public records.

A.R.S. §8-208 sets special limits for juvenile records.

For a Pima-originating municipal record, contact GVC. Say the case began in the Pima division. The court can hand you the right form and explain inspection, copy, mail, and counter options. The ten-day search language published for Thatcher Police records does not apply to a Pima request. You can try Public Access first. City-ordinance charges may not show up there, though.

Pima Court Docket Population Context

The 2020 Census counted Pima at 2,847, third among Graham County's three incorporated places. That figure gives civic scale and nothing more. It cannot say how many Pima cases are open. It cannot tell how crowded a court date will be, or whether an old municipal filing stays public. Court status comes from GVC. Or it comes from whichever court holds the file. The official Census profile offers county population and geography context.
